Speaking Regeneratively
From the beginning of time
our job was to be
Stewards of the land,
animals and sea

We were given a mandate
to care for the earth
Mother Nature she's sometimes called
and all of her worth

The soil we were given
so plentiful and rich
of nutrients and minerals
that encompassed every inch

The benefits of this soil
none of which you could compare
the well-being of humans and animals alike,
the waters and the air

It all worked together
it was the perfect plan
Until we thought we'd do it better ourselves
was when the problems all began

Instead of nature dictating
the next steps we need to take
We applied chemicals, treatments and tilled the land
which turns out is a mistake

We somehow became impatient
needing our yield so quick
and in our quest to save us time
It's actually made us sick

For what was once filled with carbon,
nitrogen and phosphorus
is now being depleted
of all it has to offer us

Who would have thought
the result of this would be
when you deplete the soil of nutrients
it in turn depletes you and me

The good news is, out there right now
are people like you and me
that are working hard to restore that soil
and all it's meant to be

We can benefit our climate,
the earth and all living things
by choosing regenerative farming
for the health to all it brings

To pretend we don't see need for change
surely is a crime
(regeneratively speaking) we're bettering our world
supporting one farm at a time.
